Activities

As well as speaking Irish, it’s all about having fun and we always have action packed days of activities for you. Here’s just a sample of some of the activities you might be doing:

Sports Hall/Gym

“An Áislann” is a community facility which includes a library, sports hall (basketball and indoor football), a gym, computer centre, and small theatre.

Surfing, Swimming & Bathing

There are two beaches in Muckross which are only a short distance away. Trá Lobhair beach is ideal for surfing. The other beach, Trá Bhán, has a car park and toilets and is ideal for swimming and bathing. We visit a third beach in Kilcar where we do the Kayaking which is called Port a’Chabhlaigh and is across from Teelin.

Painting & Bird-Watching

The tranquil setting of Muckross Head makes it an ideal location for artists and birdwatchers. Muckross Head is home to large numbers of breeding seabirds and wintering geese and amongst its rarer inhabitants is included the Red-billed Chough.

Hill Walking – Croagh Muckross

Croagh Muckross is a nice climb for hill walkers where 5 counties can be seen from the top making it a truly enjoyable adventure. At low tides one can access the back of the headland and view the cave formations caused by erosion through the ages. Sliabh Liag Hill Walking Club has regular walks scheduled over the year.

Slieve League Cliffs

The cliffs are just a short distance from Kilcar. Experience the highest sea cliffs in Europe at 600m. Enjoy the lovely walk with spectacular scenery along the cliffs.

Boat Trips From Teelin Pier

The Nuala Star Charter Boat is based in Teelin Pier, Co. Donegal. Contact Paddy for sightseeing trips to Sliabh League / Bunglass cliffs where you can enjoy deep sea angling, dive charter, dolphin spotting, bird watching, and if you’re lucky on the day, you can watch Paddy have a swim with the dolphins.
